wanted an excerpt from a lawyer's estate
Inspired by an Old Newsletter from Patrick Kindlon's "Do Not Siege Walled Cities"
wanted an excerpt from a lawyer’s estate
to find the life sounds locked on paper
when asked to clean his emptied home
storing too full boxes
where you could watch
with sick fervor
the desert
at the edge of the ridge
the side of a rocky hill
the sand enveloping your feet
but the couch doesn’t swallow
and the TV doesn’t click
to the payments time makes
in the deserted pile.
